My story so far…

Moving to York for university was a defining moment in my journey as a writer. The city’s hauntingly beautiful gothic architecture, its shadowy alleyways, and its rich, eerie history became a wellspring of inspiration for my exploration of the uncanny and strange. My lecturers, whose passion for this genre was infectious, ignited in me a profound love for gothic literature that extended beyond mere enjoyment. This fascination led me into literary criticism, where I delved into others’ interpretations of the genre, discovering how deeply these perspectives resonated with my own.

This experience inspired me to start crafting my own tales and analyses of the uncanny. Now, as a teacher, I have the privilege of introducing a new generation to the wonders of gothic literature through a dedicated scheme of work. This endeavour allows me to share the genre's timeless allure, helping students uncover its depths and discover the power of the strange and unsettling.
